Slow and Controlled Release Nitrogen Fertilizers: Options for Improving Rice Productivity: A Review
نویسندگان
چکیده
Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is the most important food crop not only in Asia but also entire world. Over past several decades, conventional fertilizer application for rice has caused loss of nutrients, which could lead to a series environmental problems such as eutrophication and greenhouse effects. The emergence slow controlled-release fertilizers provides new option more efficient fertilization rice. International Fertilizer Association (IFA) included controlled release (CRFs), (SRFs), sulphur coated urea (SCU), stabilized nitrogen (SNFs), WSFs, liquid NPKs, chelated micronutrients boron their assessment study global market special products. In India, specialty are categorized broadly water soluble fertilizers, neem urea, fortified customized (CFs), micronutrient fertilizers. Controlled-release and/or resin can reduce N losses (e.g. leaching, ammonia volatilization), while increasing availability plant enhance grain yield upto 22.1% These, increase yields by maintaining soil health over time.

A Novel Function of Controlled-Release Nitrogen Fertilizers
Nitrogen is the most important essential nutrient that plays a major role in achieving maximum crop yield in agriculture. Therefore, nitrogen fertilizers such as ammonium sulfate and urea have been extensively used in modern agriculture. These fertilizers are generally oxidized to nitrate via nitrite by nitrifying microorganisms in the agricultural field (4, 10, 11). The serious environmental p...
متن کاملNew Development In Slow-Release Fertilizers
There have been several recent developments in slow-release fertilizers. These materials supply nutrients continuously over an extended period in contrast to water soluble fertilizers which are immediately available after incorporation in moist soil. Slow-release fertilizers are not subject to rapid leaching loss and do not easily burn plants from over-application. The major need for slow relea...
متن کاملRole of Slow-Release Nanocomposite Fertilizers on Nitrogen and Phosphate Availability in Soil
Developing efficient crop fertilization practices has become more and more important due to the ever-increasing global demand for food production. One approach to improving the efficiency of phosphate and urea fertilization is to improve their interaction through nanocomposites that are able to control the release of urea and P in the soil. Nanocomposites were produced from urea (Ur) or extrude...
متن کاملControlled - Release Fertilizers : Advances and Challenges
Controlledrelease fertilizers (CRFs) offer an excellent option to improve nutrients uptake by plants and reduce the environmental hazards due to excess release of chemicals. Polymer-coated fertilizers, compared to the other types of CRF, are by far the most intensively researched topic because of their great characteristics. Polymercoated fertilizers, which are less sensitive to the soil and en...
متن کاملNovel High Capacity Swelling Superabsorbent Composite and Its Potential for Controlled Release of Fertilizers
A hydrophilic macromolecular network is prepared by performing graft copolymerization of poly (sodium acrylate) chains onto salep and silica gel. The reaction parameters affecting the water absorbency of the superabsorbent composite were optimized using Taguchi method. FT-IR spectroscopy and Thermo Gravimetric Analysis (TGA) were used for confirming the s...
